YouthWorks Ranch is a 20-acre animal farm for foster kids and North Tulsa youths to get out and explore God's great outdoors. Kids learn how to build healthy lives and healthy relationships, improve the health of others, take care of farm animals, and identify and pursue their life dreams… All while having loads of memorable childhood fun!
Youth Development Components:
Animal Care – children enjoy the benefits of animal therapy as they learn the daily responsibilities of caring for horses, sheep, goats, cows, pigs, rabbits, donkeys, chickens and more. Chores include feeding, brushing, deworming, trimming, and cleaning up after their animals.
Produce Production – The 12,000 square foot Better Day Farms greenhouse can grow 24,000 heads of lettuce a month. The first team of teens is learning how to grow hydroponically to help hundreds of kids learn hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics in the new Multi-Ponic Greenhouse being built and sponsored by the Kiwanis Club & United Healthcare. The two greenhouses will help the kids lead the way in transforming the health of North Tulsa.
Trade Skills Development – Tulsa Tech, Flintco and others teach the kids multiple trade skills: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry and more. Kids learn safety, tool usage, project planning, and hands on skills.
